Students block roads as stalkers assault headmaster
Students of Bolahar High School in Dinajpur’s Ghoraghat upazila blocked two roads for an hour after four youths assaulted the school headmaster when the latter protested stalking of several girls of the school yesterday.
Police restored the road communication at around 11:00am.
According to the students, local youths Haidar Ali, Munna Mia, Meem Mia and Iqbal Hossain of Khudkhur village in the upazila used to stalk girls on their way to Bolahar High School.
On Thursday morning, the four youths stalked several girl students near the school and the girls told their headmaster Mazaharul Islam of the matter.
The headmaster hurriedly went to the spot and asked the youths why they committed the indecent act.
But they locked in an altercation with him, beat him and tore up his shirt, said the headmaster.
As the news spread among the students of the school, they came out and blocked Dinajpur-Gobindaganj and Ghoraghat-Hakimpur road.
Hearing the incident, a police team from Ghoraghat Police Station led by OC Amirul Islam rushed to the spot and persuaded the students to remove the blockade.
Police assured the agitating students that the culprits will be arrested soon.
A written complaint was filed with the police station against the four youths, said the OC, adding that the youths went into hiding after the incident.
