Rape case filed against RU BCL leader

A rape case has been filed against a Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) leader of Rajshahi University unit with Matihar Police Station by a student of the university.

The victim filed the case on Saturday night.

The accused is Ferdous Mohammad Shrabon (22), a fourth-year student of marketing department and also the human resource development affairs secretary of RU BCL, reports our RU correspondent quoting Officer-in-charge of Matihar Police Station ASM Siddikur Rahman.

According to the case statement, Shrabon had promised to marry the girl and they had engaged in sexual intercourse multiple times from August 2019 to March this year.

Several attempts were made to contact the accused over the phone, but he did not answer.

The victim was taken to a victim support centre in Rajshahi.

When contacted, RU BCL General Secretary Faisal Ahmed Runu said they heard about the case and they knew that the two had been in a relationship over the last year.
