Members of Rapid Action Battalion have cordoned off a house in Shahjadpur upazila of Sirajganj on suspicion of it being a militant hideout.

Lt Col Ashique Billah, Rab legal and media wing director, said the members of the elite force conducted a drive at the house in Ukilpara area around 5:00am based on information of two suspected militants arrested in Rajshahi last night.

Sensing the presence of law enforcement, criminals fired shots from inside the house.

Since then, Rab members have kept the house cordoned off to conduct a raid in the morning, he told The Daily Star.

No casualties were reported.
