PCJSS leader arrested

Police arrested a leader of Parbatya Chattagram Jana Samhati Samiti (PCJSS) from his house at Kalaghata in the district town early yesterday.

The arrestee is U Chaw Mong Marma, 47, president of PCJSS Bandarban district unit.

He was arrested in a case for collecting illegal toll, said Md Rafiq Ullah, officer-in-charge of Bandarban Sadar Police Station.

Abdul Karim, vice president of Sualok union unit of Awami League, filed the case around 12:15am, said the OC.

He was accused in two cases filed with Sadar Police Station.

Earlier on July 27, Chaw Mong along with nine other PCJSS men was released from jail on bail in an abduction case.

Meanwhile, PCJSS staged a demonstration in Rangamati yesterday, protesting arrest of U Chaw Mong Marma and demanding his unconditional release.
