One killed, 20 injured in Sirajganj clash
A man was killed and 19 others were injured in a clash between two rival groups at Gopalpur village in Sirajganj's Belkuchi upazila yesterday.
The deceased was farmer Md Nur-un-Nabi, 45, son of Abdul Hakim of the village.
The injured were admitted to the upazila health complex, said Md Anwarul Islam, officer in charge of Belkuchi Police Station.
Police and locals said there was a longstanding conflict between Abdur Razzak Master and Razzak Ali Mohuri of the village over previous enmity.
As a sequel to the conflict, the men of the two rivals attacked each other with lethal weapons yesterday morning, leaving over 20 people from both sides injured.
Of them, Nur-un-Nabi, supporter of Abdur Razzak, died on way to the health complex, said the OC.
The others are undergoing treatment at the upazila health complex.
Additional police personnel have been deployed in the area to avert any further trouble as a tense situtaion is prevailing in the area, said the police official.
