Narcotics Control (Amendment) Bill, 2020 placed before House; provision for separate tribunal dropped
The parliamentary body on Home Affairs today placed before the House the "Narcotics Control (Amendment) Bill, 2020" dropping the provision of setting up separate narcotic control tribunals paving the way for competent courts to try narcotic-related crimes.
Chairman of the Parliamentary Watchdog Shamsul Haq Tuku of Pabna-1 placed the report for necessary examination by the members of the concerned parliamentary committee.
The bill was brought with a provision to hold trials of narcotic-related cases in courts having the jurisdiction for quick disposal of such cases and easing the huge backlog of drug-related cases.
