Rights body Ain o Salish Kendra today demanded authorities to bring all mental health hospitals and service providers under regular monitoring and to ensure they are accountable for their activities.

ASK also expressed grave concern over the death of Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police Anisul Karim at Mind Aid Hospital in the capital's Adabor yesterday.

The police officer had been suffering from mental health complications and was admitted to the hospital yesterday morning but died before the admission procedure ended, his family members said.

Family members of the deceased alleged that hospital staffers beat him to death.

CCTV footage showed that some hospital staff members physically assaulted Anisul after taking him inside a room. They then forcefully pushed Ansiul on the floor and tied his hand with a cloth.

ASK demanded a fair probe into the allegations, proper legal action against responsible persons and hospital authorities in this regard.
