Minor girl raped, one arrested

Police early yesterday arrested a youth in connection with a case for raping a minor girl in Sirajganj's Kamarkhand upazila on Wednesday.

The arrestee, Monirul Islam, 25, is son of Abdul Hamid of Jamtoil Sheikhpara village in the upazila.

Police produced the arrestee before a court yesterday afternoon that sent him to jail.

Meanwhile, the seven-year-old victim was admitted to Sirajganj General Hospital for medical test yesterday.

Officer in Charge of Kamarkhand Police Station Habibul Islam said Monirul lured the girl and took her to his house on Wednesday and raped her.

Hearing her screams, neighbours rushed to the spot and rescued her, but the culprit managed to flee the scene.

Police arrested Monirul from his house early yesterday after victim's grandfather filed a rape case with Kamarkhand Police Station accusing Monirul on Wednesday night.
