Man killed over land dispute

A man was hacked to death allegedly by his rival over a disputed land at Pashchim Rastri village in Sadar upazila of the district on Saturday.

The deceased is Saddam Bepari, son of Dalim Bepari, a resident of the village.

Ziaul Haque, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station, said there was a longstanding conflict between Saddam and another person of the village over the land.

An arbitration meeting was arranged at the village over the issue on Saturday night.

Informed by locals, police recovered the body from the area and sent it to Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
