Illegal cigarette factory sealed

Customs and Vat officials yesterday sealed an illegal cigarette factory, which was running in guise of a auto rice mill, in Kalihati upazila of Tangail.

A team led by Mohammad Abdus Sadek, deputy commissioner of Dhaka West of Customs Excise and Vat Commissionerate, conducted a raid at Shakil Auto Rice Mills at Kamarthi around 3:00am and seized huge amount of raw materials to produce cigarette from there.

Cigarettes were produced at the mills from evening to morning and later the produced cigarettes sent to Dhaka through vehicles, Sadek quoted Shafiqul Islam, guard of the factory, as saying.
