(Update) Fire at Gazipur cotton factory under control

The fire that broke out at a cotton factory at Millgate area under Tongi Police Station in Gazipur today has been brought under control.
At least 20 stores of a cotton factory were gutted in the fire, according to Atiqur Rahman, senior station officer of Tongi Fire Service.
A total of 10 units of firefighters brought the blaze under control at around 4pm, over four hours after it originated at a store of the cotton factory 12pm and spread to the other stores, the fire official added.
The fire sparked up from an electric transformer blast, he said, adding that total damage of the fire was around Tk 10 to 12 lakh.
No one was reported injured in the fire.
