Farmer beaten dead mason’s throat-silt body found
A farmer was beaten dead in Khulna on Saturday while a mason’s throat-silt body found in Faridpur on Friday.
A farmer was beaten to death over land dispute at Fatekati village in Khulna’s Koyra upazila, reports our correspondent.
The deceased was Nazrul Islam Sana, 55, of the village in the upazila.
Tarek Biswas, officer-in-charge of Koyra Police Station, said there was a longstanding conflict between Nazrul and his cousin Dabir Uddin over the land.
As a sequel to the conflict, Dabir and his brother-in-law Nazrul Mollah beat the victim mercilessly yesterday.
Critically injured Sana was rushed to the upazila health complex where doctors declared him dead.
Police arrested Ahsan Ullah, son of Dabir Uddin, in this connection, said the OC.
The body was sent to Khulna Medical College Hospital for autopsy, said the police official.
In Faridpur, the throat-silt body of a mason was found in Bakail area of Alfadanga municipality on Friday night, reports our correspondent.
The deceased was Shipon Biswas, 30, son of late Manik Biswas of Kaliganj village in Narail’s Lohagara upazila.
Shipon used to live at a rented house in the area with his wife.
Police and locals said Shipon came to his sister-in-law’s house to attend a milad mahfil programme with his mother in the morning. After the programme, his mother went back to their house but Shipon stayed at his relative’s house.
Around 8:00pm, Shipon’s brother-in-law Liton Biswas found the body in their house. On information, police recovered the body and sent it to Faridpur Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
Shipon’s sister Lucky Begum said Shipon was mentally disturbed and drug addict.
Lucky further said “Shipon often beat my mother for money. He committed suicide.”
