Electricity service resumed in some areas of Sylhet city this evening, around 31 hours after most parts of Sylhet and Sunamganj districts plunged into darkness last night.
The power outage resulted after engineers failed to restore electricity supply from Kumargaon Power Plant after a fire yesterday.
For all latest news, follow The Daily Star's Google News channel. Talking to The Daily Star, Khandaker Mozammel Hossain, chief engineer of Power Development Board's department of electricity sales and distribution, confirmed the development.
Power supply resumed in some Sylhet city areas between 6:10pm and 6:30pm, he said.
Electricity service will be restored gradually in other areas, the PDB official added.
