A “drug peddler” was killed in a “shootout" with police in Cumilla Sadar (south) upazila early today.

Police identified the deceased as Bappy alias Razib,26, son of Late Delowar Hossain Delo of Uttar Rampur in the upazila, our Cumilla correspondent reports quoting police.

When police were conducting an anti-narcotic drive in Uttar Bijoypur area around 2:30am, Bappy and his cohorts opened fire targeting the law enforcers, forcing them to fire back, said Komol Krishno Dhor, inspector (investigation) of Cumilla Sadar South Police Station.
