College student from Dhaka drowns during Bandarban study tour

A first-year college student of Dhaka drowned in fountain water at Bandarban sadar upazila during study tour yesterday afternoon.

The deceased was identified as Tahsan Hossain, 17, a student of Rajdhani Ideal College, reports our local correspondent quoting Shahidul Islam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Bandarban Sadar Police Station.

Around 130 students and teachers of the college went to Bandarban for a study tour, police said quoting Md Jahangir Alom, the principal of Rajdhani Ideal College.

Tahsan drowned while bathing in the fountain, locally known as Rupali Jharna, along with his friends around 2:30pm.

Later, police searched and recovered the body. It was sent to Bandarban Sadar Hospital for autopsy, the OC added.
