With bows and arrows, Santals meet NHRC boss

Evicted Santals of Gaibandha showed up with bows and arrows before the national human rights boss when the latter visited them in Gobindaganj upazila today.
National Human Rights Commission Chairman Kazi Reazul Hoque led a five-man delegation to Madarpur village when the Santals showed up in war outfit.
The delegation talked to the evicted Santals there and assured of placing their complaints before the appropriate authorities, our Gaibandha correspondent reports.
At least two Santals were killed on November 6 when police evicted the ethnic minorities from their "ancestral land" – which was acquired before Bangladesh's independence on conditional terms.
Once the terms of the government acquisition were violated, Santals tried to reclaim their land. A violent clash took place when locals and police evicted them on that day.
Since then, Santals have been adamant on getting back their land.
