BNP leader denied bail, sent to jail

A Netrakona court yesterday denied bail to a local BNP leader and sent him to jail.

Babul Alam Talukder, 50, general secretary of BNP's Purbadhala upazila unit, was produced before Netrakona Chief Judicial Magistrate's Court in the afternoon and the court sent him to jail, police said.

Earlier, on Wednesday night, a police team, acting on a tip-off, raided Chowrasta area around 9:00pm and detained Babul while he was holding a secret meeting there.

Babul is accused in two arson cases filed with Purbadhala Police Station, Officer in Charge of the police station Billal Uddin said.
