4-year-old raped in Jashore, lone accused held

A four-year-old child was raped allegedly by a man in Jashore town yesterday, said police.

Abdur Rahman Antu (34), a resident of Murli area in the town, was arrested following a complaint over rape, our Benapole correspondent reports.

Antu, the lone accused, was arrested from a house adjacent to the victim's house in Murli last night, said Tasmim Alam, inspector (investigation) of Jashore Kotwali Police Station.

According to the case statement, the accused took the child to an abandoned house and raped there yesterday evening, the inspector said.

The victim fell sick and told her mother about the incident, said the case statement.

Later, the child's family filed the rape case with Kotwali Police Station accusing Antu, the police official said.

The child is undergoing treatment at Jashore General Hospital.
