4 of a family burnt in Narsingdi fire

Admitted to DMCH

Four members of a family sustained burn injuries in a fire at a house in Narsingdi’s Raipur upazila early today.

The victims are – Muktamoni, an SSC examinee, her sisters Sweety Akhter, 13, a class-8 student and Preeti Akhter, 11, a class-6 student, and her aunt Khatunnesa, 60.

With 12 to 13 per cent burns they were admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital's (DMCH) burn unit around 12noon today, said Partha Sangkar Paul, a resident surgeon of the DMCH burn unit.

While talking to The Daily Star, Mukta alleged her neigbours set their house on fire following a land dispute. “They (the neigbours) did not want us to live in the locality,” she said.

When contacted, Officer-in-Charge of Raipur Police Station Mohsin Kabir said they detained two persons for their alleged involvement into the incident.
