34 robbers surrender in Ctg's Banshkhali

Around 30 to 35 lakh people live in the coastal area of Maheshkhali, with their livelihoods depending on the coastal economy. But because of robbers in the area, they have long been held hostage. Now, through the surrender of the robbers, there is a chance that the wind of peace will blow over the coastal region again.
Lt. Col. Ashiq Billah, director of the legal and media wing of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab), said this to the media on behalf of the force at the surrender ceremony in Banshkhali today.
Ashiq Billah went on, "Around 34 robbers from 11 gangs are surrendering. Those who did not have the opportunity to surrender before are now getting the opportunity. Through this surrender, this coastal area will be free of robbers."
The Rab official said there were cases against most of the surrendered robbers. Cases other than murder and rape cases will be withdrawn through the legal process.
"Moreover, those who have worked as masterminds behind the creation of the gangs will be watched closely. They will be brought under the law in a short time," he said.
Rab said that since 2004, the force has conducted raids in different areas of Chittagong and Cox's Bazar and arrested 246 robbers, as well as recovered firearms and ammunition.
