At least three passengers, including a child, were killed in a road accident at Aamtali area on the Bogura-Dhaka Highway under Bogura's Sherpur upazila today.

The deceased are identified as Abdul Hai (60), auto-rickshaw driver Al Amin (28) of Chakpathari village and nine-year-old Shah Sultan of Ghasuria village of the upazila, said Roton Hossain, station officer of Sherpur upazila Fire Service and Civil Defense.

The accident took place when a Dhaka-bound bus hit an auto-rickshaw van from behind on the Bogura-Dhaka highway around 1:00pm today, he said.

Three passengers including the driver of the auto-rickshaw van died on the spot and three others were injured, Roton added.

The injured have been sent to Bogura Ziaur Rahman Medical College and Hospital. Of them, the condition of a women is critical, informed the official.  

Contacted, Nurunnabi Prodhan, Officer-in-Charge of Hatikumrul Highway Police Station (Sirajganj) said that they have seized the bus but the driver and helper managed to flee.
