2 shot dead in Rangamati

Two people were shot dead by unidentified criminals last night at Gorjonia area under Wagja union of Kaptai upazila in Rangamati, police said.

The deceased were identified as Shuvash Tanchangya and Dhananjoy Tanchangya, reports our local correspondent quoting Md Nasir Uddin, officer-in-charge of Kaptai Police Station.

According to locals and police, Shuvash, a resident of Rajasthali upazila, came to visit Dhananjoy's house last night. "A group of unidentified criminals knocked at Dhananjoy's door at 3:00am. When Dhananjoy and Shuvash opened the door, the criminals opened fire leaving them dead on the spot," said OC Nasir.

After being informed, a team of police rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies, added the OC.

OC Nasir said the bodies were sent to Rangamati General Hospital for autopsy.
