10 Chhatra Shibir activists arrested with bombs in Chapainawabganj

Police arrested 10 activists of Chhatra Shibir from a madrasa hostel in Chapainawabganj municipality area today.

Police also seized 500 grams of gunpowder, eight crude bombs, five machetes and five “extremist” books from their possession, reports our local correspondent.

According to police, Abdullahil Kafi, organising secretary of Chhatra Shibir’s Chapainawabganj district unit, was among the arrestees.

Ziaur Rahman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Sadar Police Station, said police raided a dormitory of Shankarbati Hefazul-ulum Alia Madrasa at Namoshankerbati around 2:30pm today and arrested them while they were holding a meeting on the occasion of the organisation’s founding anniversary.
