Neo JMB leader Rakib arrested

The Special Branch (SB) of police arrested the information and technology (IT) affairs commander of Neo JMB's 313-Badori Sainik Group and seized jehadi books and mobile phone from his house at Tangbhanga village of Hatibandha upazila on Tuesday night.

The arrestee, Rakibul Islam Rakib, 29, son of Korban Ali of Tangbhanga village of Hatibandha, is also an absconding accused in a sabotage case and earlier he was in jail for 10 months in the case for abducting one Mosabber Hossain Khandaker, also a JMB man, said Siddiqur Rahman, sub-inspector of Lalmonirhat SB police.

“Rakib, also known as Nanga Tarbari, Provater Muazzin and Badori Sainik, confessed to police that he was involved in the attack on Dinajpur's Kantaji Temple. He conducted 13 Facebook IDs for campaigning against the government. His mobile used for organisational campaign has also been seized,” said SM Rashidul Haque, superintendent of police in Lalmonirhat.

Police continued interrogating Rakib for getting more information about other JMB members and their activities in the area.
