National Library Day celebrated in Tangail

With chants of “Porbo Boi, Gorbo Desh, Bangabandhur Bangladesh”, government officials and students in Tangail today celebrated National Library Day 2020.

District administration and Tangail Government Public Library jointly brought out a colourful procession in the morning where government officials and students of different educational institutions took part, our Tangail correspondent reports.

They started the procession from the public library premises and ended at the deputy commissioner’s office after parading on different streets in the town.

Later, a discussion was held at the conference room of the library premises where Tangail Deputy Commissioner Md Shahidul Islam was the chief guest.

While addressing the discussion, DC Shahidul urged all, especially the students, for building a habit of reading books in order to keep away from bad habits.

Mosharaf Hossain Khan, additional deputy commissioner (general) in Tangail, Kazi Golam Ahad, senior district information officer; and Sadia Mahbub, district library officer of the public library; were also present during the programme.

Winners of a book reading competition in the district also received prizes during the programme.

Prizes were also distributed among three best non-government libraries in Tangail and gifts were distributed among regular readers of the libraries.

The National Library Day (February 5) was also celebrated in different educational institutions including Mawlana Bhashani Science and Technology University and Government Saadat College in the district.
