Marries to avoid rape charge, then 'kills' wife, baby
His brutality is beyond imagination.
To avoid rape charge, college boy Nazrul first married a mentally challenged young woman, then allegedly killed her and their two-month-old son at Pabda village in Pakundia upazila of Kishoreganj.
Local people found the decomposed body of the child floating in Mirartek Beel, a local water body, on Tuesday night, 18 days into his missing, and informed police.
Earlier, the law enforcers recovered the decomposed body of the ill-fated mother Rahima Khatun, 28, from the same water body on January 21, seven days into her missing.
The two might have been strangled and there were injury marks of beating on the bodies, said Sub-Inspector Motiur Rahman of Pakundia Police Station.
The bodies were sent to Kishoreganj General Hospital morgue for autopsy, said the SI, also investitation officer of the case.
Rahima became pregnant following a relationship with Nazrul Islam, 22, son of Sohrab Uddin of the same village.
Nazrul, an honours student of Government Gurudayal College in Kishoreganj, developed a relationship with the poor woman and raped her repeatedly on various occasions, said Officer-in-Charge Hasan Al Mamun quoting family members.
Rahima gave birth to a male child two months ago. Following pressure from the victim's family, Nazrul married her on January 10.
Nazrul along with his wife and child went out of their house for an outing on January 13 and since then the two remained missing.
Rahima's elder brother Abdul Awal later lodged a case, accusing Nazrul, his parents and younger brother Deen Islam. Later, police arrested two suspects, including Deen.
Police drives are on to arrest prime accused Nazrul, the OC said.
