Man held for ‘raping’ girl in Pabna

Police today arrested a man allegedly for raping a teenage girl in Atghoria upazila of Pabna.

Abdul Karim, 50, was arrested from his house in Gokulnagar village early in the morning following a case filed against him and another person with Atghoria Police Station, police said.

The arrestee was later sent to jail by a local court today, our Pabna correspondent reports quoting Md Rakibul Islam, officer in charge of Atghoria Police Station.

Police are trying to arrest another accused Belal Hossain of the same village as he went into hiding after the incident, the OC said.

Quoting the victim’s family members, the OC added that Karim and his associate Belal raped the 18-year-old girl at her home yesterday while the victim was staying there alone.

The victim was taken to Pabna General Hospital for treatment this morning, he said.
