Ispahani chairman passes away

Mirza Ali Behrouze Ispahani, chairman of MM Ispahani Limited, died of a heart attack at a hospital in Dhaka early today. He was 67.

Behrouze Ispahani, who had undergone a surgery on his leg at the Apollo Hospitals yesterday, breathed his last around 5:20am, according to the HR department of Ispahani Islamia Eye Institute and Hospital Bangladesh.

His first namaj-e-janaja was held after Asr prayer at Gulshan Azad Mosque, while the second janaja was held after Maghreb prayer at Hoseni Dalan Mosque in old Dhaka. Later he was buried at a graveyard in Hoseni Dalan area.

The Ispahani Group’s historical roots can be traced way back to 1820 when its founder Haji Mohammed Hashem moved from Isfahan, Persia to Bombay and started a business that soon expanded phenomenally in both scale and coverage.
