Fake marriage registrar jailed in Natore

A mobile court today sentenced a fake marriage registrar to one-month imprisonment for arranging a child marriage in Diyarbhitua area of Natore Sadar upazila.

Fake marriage register Abu Bakkar Siddik, 55, of Cwalkrampur area of Natore town, was conducting child marriages in the area for about four years, Natore Sadar UNO Mohammad Nairuzzamn told our local correspondent.

“Recently, I come to know by the appointed marriage registrar that a fake one is conducting child marriages in the area regularly,” the UNO said.

Earlier on Tuesday afternoon, in another incident, the same mobile court foiled an attempt of a child marriage at Joyrampur in the same upazila.

The court also sentenced the bridegroom's father Montu Mian, 40, to 15-day imprisonment for arranging his 15 years old daughter's marriage.
