3 killed in Cumilla road accident

At least three people were killed and 15 injured as a bus fell into a road-side ditch in Daudkandi upazila of Cumilla this morning.

The deceased were identified as passengers Ramjan (40), Shafikul (31), and pedestrian Shaheed Ullah (65), reports our local correspondent quoting Sergeant Alamgir Hosen of Daudkandi Highway Police Station.

The accident occurred around 7am when driver of a Dhaka-bound Katija Paribahan bus -- coming from Chattogram -- lost control over the wheels in Jinglatoli area on Dhaka-Chattogram highway, the sergeant said.

The bus ran over Shaheed Ullah before it fell into the ditch, killing two of its passengers. All three died on the spot, Alamgir said.

Police recovered the bodies and sent the injured to local hospitals for treatment.
