Couple killed over land dispute

A couple were hacked to death over a disputed land at Bishnupur village in Ranishankoil upazila on Tuesday. The deceased are Shahidul Islam, 40, and his wife Parveen Begum, 30, of the village. Quoting deceased's family members, police said there had been a longstanding rivalry between Shahidul and his neighbours Nawab and Dulal over the ownership of a disputed land. Shahidul locked in an altercation with the duo over the issue on Monday evening. As a sequel, Nawab stabbed Parveen and her husband Shahidul.
