Bangladeshi teen shot dead at Meghalaya border

A student of Sylhet Government Women's College was hacked allegedly by her lover while she was coming out from an examination hall in Sylhet city today.

The victim was identified as Khadiza Begum, a student of Islamic History of the college and daughter of Mashuk Miah of Akhalia area in the city.

Just after the incident, local people managed to capture the attacker and handed him over to police after giving him a good beating, reports our correspondent quoting police.

The attacker was identified as Badrul Islam, a 3rd year student of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology in Sylhet.

Bashudeb Banik, additional deputy commissioner (South) of Sylhet Metropolitan Police, said the injured and the attacker were taken to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College for treatment.

Witnesses said the perpetrator suddenly attacked Khadiza with a machete while she was coming out from the exam hall at Murari Chand College after attending a test of Bachelor of Arts-BA.

The attack was carried out following an affair between them as the attacker primarily confessed to the police and a case is being filed, police said.
