BTV Ctg centre starts test transmission

Bangladesh Television today started test transmission through satellite from its Chittagong centre.

"We have started our test transmission for four-hour daily which will be extended to six-hour, eight-hour gradually," said Manoj Sengupta, general manager of BTV Chittagong centre.

"We have plans to transmit for 24 hours in future," he added.

Earlier, the centre used to air programmes and news for only 2 hours daily within the limit of only 40 km through terrestrial, said BTV officials.

From now on, people throughout the country will be able to enjoy four-hour programmes from this centre, sources said.

Even the expatriates can watch the programmes and news through satellite, they said.

The Chittagong Sub-center of BTV launched its journey in 1996. From then, the centre has been airing two-hour long programme daily over the terrestrial link.
