Per capita income now $1,751, GDP growth 7.86pc

Bangladesh's per capita income rose to USD1,751 and gross domestic product (GDP) growth reached 7.86 percent this fiscal year, Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal said today.

Per capita income was $1,610 in the last fiscal year (2016-17), while the GDP was 7.28 percent, the minister said while talking to reporters after a meeting of the National Economic Council (NEC).

The growth rate of GDP in agriculture, industry and services sectors this year was 4.19 percent, 12.06 percent and 6.39 percent respectively, the minister added.   

Poverty and extreme poverty rates have also come down to 21.8 percent and 11.3 percent respectively which was 23.1 percent and 12.1 percent in 2017.
