Baghaichhari killing: Suspect held in Bandarban
Police have arrested a suspect from Bandarban in a case filed over the sensational killing in Baghaichhari upazila of Rangamati on March 18.
The arrestee, Ranjit Chakma, 28, of Panchhari upazila in Rangamati, was held from Bandarban last night, Shahidul Islam, officer-in-charge of Bandarban Sadar Police Station, told our local correspondent.
Police also recovered a 9mm pistol, four round bullets and from mobile sets from Ranjit’s possession, said OC Shahidul.
Ranjit is a suspect in the murder case, said investigation officer (IO) of the case Md Jahangir Alam, also an inspector of Baghaichhari Police Station.
On March 18, seven people, including two polling officials and four Ansar personnel, were shot dead by miscreants in Baghaichhari upazila while returning to the upazila town with polling materials in two cars after discharging their duties at a polling centre during the second phase of the upazila elections.
Later on April 9, another person injured during the incident of brushfire died in Dhaka.
