Addict man pours hot curry on wife

A housewife landed in hospital as her addict husband poured hot curry on her at their Basundia village home in Jessore Sadar upazila yesterday morning. 

The victim is Reshma Khatun, 20, daughter of Abdur Rashid Mollah of Basundia village.

Four years ago, she was married to Mohammad Abdullah, a resident of the same village and an employee of Nawapara Akij Jute Mills.

“My husband is a drug addict and he demanded money from me every now and then. Lastly he asked me to bring Tk 5,000 from my father. As I declined, he became crazy and poured hot curry on me,” said Reshma.

Neighbours took her to Jessore 250-bed Hospital where she is undergoing treatment for serious burn injuries.

The husband went into hiding after the incident.

Contacted over phone, the officer in charge of the police station concerned said he is not aware of the incident.

Action will be taken if a complaint is filed, he said.
