18kg gold seized in Jessore, 4 held

Armed Police Battalion (APBn) detained four people and seized 18 kilogrammes of gold from their possessions in Jessore Sadar upazila this morning.

Identities of the detainees could not be known immediately, our Benapole correspondent reports quoting Sikdar Akkas Ali, officer-in-charge of Jessore Kotwali Police Station.

Acting on a tiff-off, a contingent of APBn searched a bus at Chanchra intersection in Sadar upazila around 8:00am and detained the four along with the gold, the OC said.

Other details about the incident will be disclosed at a press briefing to be held at APBn division office in Khulna later in the day, the police official added.
