40 Bangladeshi districts at ‘very high risk’ of Covid infections: WHO
The current spike in Covid cases in the country has put 40 districts at very high risk, said the World Health Organization in this week's situation report, published on June 21.
WHO identified three levels of risk based on the number of samples collected and patient identification rate per week.
According to the WHO, all the districts in the Khulna division are at very high risk of infections. Six out of eight districts in the Rajshahi division are identified as at very high risk, and the remaining two are at high risk.
Six districts in Chattogram are at very high risk, three districts at high risk, and one district at medium risk.
The remaining districts with at very high risk of infections are: Thakurgaon, Lalmonirhat, Faridpur, Madaripur, Gopalganj, Jhalakathi, Pirojpur, Rangpur, Kurigram, Barishal, Sherpur, Jamalpur, Tangail, Gazipur, Kishoreganj, Sylhet and Rajbari.
Two other districts, including Dhaka, are at high risk of infections.
Three districts in Barishal are at high risk, and the remaining three are at medium risk.
As per the latest, the total infections in the country reached 8,66,877 while the death toll is at 13,787.
