Over 560 people, including Joint Secretary of Awami League's Bogura district unit Monjurul Alam Mohon, were sued in three cases filed over yesterday's clash between two rival groups of Bogura AL and Jubo League in the town's Charmatha bus terminal area.
Bus communication with adjacent districts remained suspended for eight hours from 6:00am today as per the announcement of Bogura District Motor Owners' Group.
The transport leaders withdrew the strike following a negotiation with police, said Superintendent of Police in Bogura, Ali Ashraf Bhuiyan.
The three cases were filed in Bogra Sadar Police Station last night, hours after 10 people, including a plainclothes policeman and a TV cameraperson, were injured in the clash.
Police Inspector Md Nannu Khan filed one of the cases against six named people including Jubo league leader Zakaria Adil and 250 unnamed persons on charge of attacking Ramjan Ali, 55, a constable at the Special Branch of Bogura Police, during the clash.
Bogura Sadar upazila Jobo League's acting President Aminul Islam filed another case naming 52 people including Mohon and 200/250 unknown persons on charge of attacking his office and vandalising, said Abul Kamal Azad, inspector (investigation) of Bogura Sadar Police Station.
Moshiul Alam, Mohon's brother, filed the third case mentioning names of Aminul and 32 people and 20/25 more unknown people for attacking Mohon and his people, the inspector said.
Meanwhile, police arrested two people in the case filed for attacking the police constable and also detained 12 others in the case filed by Aminul, Officer-in-Charge of Sadar Police Station Humayun Kabir said.
Soon after the clash, Motor Owners' Group threatened to start a transport strike in Bogura if Mohon is not arrested.
