Zia chief patron of jail killers: Inu

Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu yesterday said BNP founder and former president Ziaur Rahman was the main patron of the killings of four national leaders in jail on November 3, 1975 and he accordingly rewarded the killers.

The information minister made the remark while speaking to journalists after discussions with leaders and workers of his party, Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal, at the Kushtia circuit house.

He said the BNP remained silent when the entire nation was solemnly observing the martyrdom of the four national leaders. This has, once again, indicated their tacit approval of the gruesome incident, he said. "BNP is upholding that tradition."
