Xulhaz killing: Ansarullah operative on fresh remand
A Dhaka Court today granted a five-day remand for an operative of banned militant outfit Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT) in connection with the killing of USAID staff Xulhaz Mannan and his friend Tonoy.
Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Alamgir Kabir Raj passed the order after police produced Shariful Islam Shihab seeking 10-day remand for second phase.
Earlier, he was placed on a three-day remand that ended yesterday.
He was arrested in Kushtia on Saturday. According to police, he supplied a firearm to the killers of Xulhaz and his friend Khandakar Mahbub Rabbi Tonoy.
On April 25, Xulhaz and Tonoy were hacked to death in a flat at the capital's Dhanmondi.
Police recovered two firearms from the spot from a bag abandoned by the killers.
