Woman killed by 'brother-in-law'

A woman was killed allegedly by her brother-in-law in Katlapur of Savar, outside the capital, yesterday.

Alpona Devnath, 22, wife of Sree Pado Chandra Sarker, was chatting with her relative in her brother's house, few distance from her own house, when suddenly Kajol Chandra Sarker, 28, a garment worker, arrived with a knife and slit her throat.

The relative, Shuprea Sharker, said before Alpona could finish narrating her recent incidents of being “tortured” by Kajol, he appeared, launched the attack and fled away.

At that time, both Alpona's brother and sister-in-law were at work.

Police sent the body to Dhaka Medical College hospital for autopsy.
