Woman found dead in in-laws' house

A woman was found hanging from the ceiling of her in-laws' house in Kurgone of Ashulia, outside the capital, on Tuesday night.

Mansura Akter Lipi , 22, daughter of Mansur Ali of Chitroshail area, was murdered by her husband Shakil and in-laws for dowry, claimed her family.

Nahid Hasan, sub-inspector of Ahulia Police Station, said on information, police recovered the body and sent it to Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.

Mansur said he already gave Shakil a television, a fridge and furniture as dowry but recently he started torturing Lipi for Tk 1.5 lakh.

On that night, Shakil beat up Lipi, their neighbour told The Daily Star seeking anonymity.

Shakil and his father Nazrul Islam went into hiding, said police.
