Woman found dead in Dhaka hotel, baby girl rescued

Police recovered the body of a woman and rescued her one-month-old daughter from a hotel in Fakirapool area of Dhaka tonight.
The identity of the deceased could not be known immediately, Shibli Noman, additional deputy commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (Motijheel zone), told The Daily Star.
“The baby was admitted to the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) of Dhaka Medical College Hospital around 12:10 pm,” he added.
A man along with the woman and the baby came to Al Shaheen Hotel around 3:30 am yesterday for staying a night there, said police quoting the hotel authorities.
“But, around 11:30 pm tonight, an attendant of the hotel found the room on the fourth floor was locked from outside and a baby was crying inside. Immediately they called Motijheel police,” said Noman.
A police team broke the door lock and found the body of the woman, said police adding that she might have been strangled immediately after they had come to the hotel room.
