Well done

The Law and Justice Division secretary yesterday chased down the driver of a BRTC bus while he was fleeing after crushing a woman to death on Dhaka-Mawa highway in Munshiganj.

Secretary ASSM Zahirul Haque Dulal captured the driver, Abdul Kaiyum, and handed him over to police on charge of killing one Sayeda begum, 60, wife of late Shafi Hossain of Sreenagar upazila, said Golam Morshed Talukder, officer-in-charge of Hasara Highway Police Station.

Talking to The Daily Star, Secretary Zahirul said he was on his way to Gopalganj with a police escort in the afternoon for official purposes.

After the accident took place, he saw the bus driver speeding away. His vehicle chased the bus for about a kilometre and was able to stop the bus and capture the driver with the help of the police escorting him, he said.
