UN rep hails Bangladesh security
UN Resident Coordinator (UNRC) and UNDP Resident Representative in Dhaka Robert Watkins yesterday appreciated the security measures extended by the government since the immediate aftermath of the Gulshan terror attack.
The appreciation came during a meeting with Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali at his office.
Watkins assured that the UN would work with Bangladesh, specifically in preventing violent extremism, in line with the UN secretary-general's plan of action, said a foreign ministry press release.
The duo discussed, among others, the forthcoming UN General Assembly, and undocumented Myanmar nationals in Bangladesh.
UNRC expressed appreciation for undertaking the census of the Myanmar citizens residing in Bangladesh which has recently been concluded.
