Two Sylhet BCL men stabbed by co-activists
Two Bangladesh Chhatra League men were stabbed by co-activists near MAG Osmani Medical College in Sylhet city early yesterday over a Facebook status.
One of the injured, Kamran Hossain Khan, was admitted to the Sylhet hospital, while Fahad Ahmed was taken to the National Institute of Chest Disease and Hospital in Dhaka.
The two along with a group of activists, including Tanvir Ahmed, visited the medical college hospital around 4:00am to see Awami League leader Mustak Ahmed Polash whose wife and son were killed in a road accident in Habiganj on Friday night, said police.
After the visit, Tanvir posted a photo of the AL leader on Facebook along with the status, "Allah did justice. Thank God", said Suhel Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Kotwali Police Station.
It angered Kamran and Fahad, two loyalists of the AL leader, and the two attacked Tanvir and his men but instead were knifed by Tanvir's group, he said.
However, Tanvir denied the allegation.
Four BCL men were arrested in this incident, said police.
General Secretary of Sylhet city BCL Abdul Alim Tusher said it was a personal issue of the activists; it had nothing to do with the organisation.
