Two bullet-hit muggers held in Ctg
Two suspected muggers were hit by bullets in a “gunfight” with Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) during a drive at Ambagan area in the port city early yesterday.
The injured Md Yusuf alias Eliash, 35, and Sheikh Farid, 34, were arrested and admitted to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH), said police sources.
The incident also injured two police constables Atiqur Rahman and Sawrup Barua, who received primary treatment at CMCH.
Police recovered a Light Gun (LG), six rounds of bullet, two homemade sharp weapons, and seven mobile phones from their possession, said Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) (South) AAM Humayun Kabir of Detective Branch (DB).
The belongings of Prof Julia Davis of Asian University for Women, who was mugged on Feb 21, were also recovered from the duo, ADC Humayun added.
Earlier, Farid and Yusuf were arrested in another mugging case and later freed on bail after two months in prison.
