Rajuk fines Shakib Khan Tk 10 lakh
Film actor Shakib Khan has been fined Tk 10 lakh for constructing his house in Dhaka’s Niketon area violating the Rajuk-approved design.
A mobile court of Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (Rajuk) led by Magistrate Ashraf Hosen fined the film actor while conducting a drive at Niketan this afternoon, reports Bangla daily Prothom Alo.
When Shakib’s brother-in-law and caretaker of his house showed all the documents, the magistrate found inconsistency in the relevant documents, Mohammad Hossain, authorized officer of Raruk (zone 4), told the daily.
The roof of the building was constructed violating the Rajuk-approved design, Mohammad Hossain said.
Contacted over phone, Shakib told The Daily Star, “I am astonished. Why have they done this? I didn’t make the design. The engineers have done this.”
He added: “The building beside my house has been constructed with a similar design. No one fined them. Why would I be victim. I am astonished and shocked.”
“I don’t understand what type of drive it is,” Shakib Khan said adding that the officials should know to whose house they are going to conduct the drive.
The engineer has extended one foot while constructing the cantilever and the authorities can issue a notice on it, he said.
“I am respectful to the law. It is equal for everyone. Today, Rajuk fined me Tk 10 lakh. Tomorrow, another will want Tk 20 lakh. If it is not paid, they will jail me. What kind of the law it is, I can’t take it anymore,” he further said.
