Road crashes kill six

Three of a family die in Jamalpur

Six people were killed and 10 others injured in road accidents in the country yesterday.

Our Jamalpur correspondent reports, three of a family were killed while three others injured when the microbus they were in plunged into a roadside pond at Notun Bazar in Battajor village of Jamalpur's Bakshiganj upazila, after the driver lost control over the vehicle.

The dead were Bablu Miah, 27, of Kurigram district, his wife Shilpi Begum, 22, and their 10-month-old son Abdullah.

The injured family members took first-aid at Bakshiganj Upazila Health Complex.

Our Bogra correspondent adds, two persons were killed and four others injured when a stone-laden truck collided head-on with a mini pick-up van at Sherua-Battola in Sherpur upazila.

The dead were pickup driver Shaymol Kumar, 30, and his passenger Polash Sarkar, 32, of Faridpur district. The injured were taken to Shaheed Zaiur Rahman Medical College.

Our Chittagong correspondent reports, a motorcyclist died while three bus passengers were injured when the bus hit the motorcycle on Chittagong-Cox's Bazar highway at New Karnaphuli Shah Amanat Bridge in Chittagong city.

The deceased was Md Selim, 50, of Patiya upazila.
